About EG

Eosinophilic Disorders can occur anywhere along the digestive tract, whether it is found in the esophagus (Eosinophilic Esophagitis- EE), stomach (Eosinophilic Gastritis- EG), small intestines
(Eosinophilic Enteritis) or large intestines (Eosinophilic Coliltis) . Eosinophils are a form of white blood cell that normally releases toxins in an allergic reaction.  But with Eosinophilic Disorders, there are very high numbers of Eosinophils releasing excessive toxins that becomes critically harmful to the tissue in which they invade. As with (EG), painful chronic inflammation occurs with destruction & ulceration of gastro-intestinal tissue thus leading to symptoms of inability to absorb vital nutrients through damaged stomach tissue. Internal bleeding, severe anemia & low protein levels result causing a whole host of significant medical problems. Funding for research will allow for the possible recognition of the allergen trigger that may be the cause of the abnormally high numbers of eosinophils in these affected individuals.
